Old Kentucky Home

We traveled across Kentucky today. What a gorgeous ride! Traveled by the Shaker Historical site...no pictures, just drove by because of the thunderstorm we tried to outrun.
No luck...but it is perfect here. We did see a pink elephant at our turn!

We are now at Kentucky Lakes/Prizer Point resort. Absolutely beautiful. We have lakeside site with full hook ups.

Our Internet was strong enough to visit with Jessica, Sean and William. We traveled to Mammoth Cave National Park and took a tour...only picture that came out was coming out of the cave.

Now we are just 50 miles from Paducah! Woohoo!

Gettysburg...WOW

Gettysburg Visitor's Center!

Gettysburg is an amazing destination for everyone. We spent the morning at the Visitor's Center that screens a wonderful film "We are Met on a Great Battlefield", presents the "Battle of Gettysburg" cyclorama, and leads to the Gettysburg Museum of the American Civil War.

Then we took a self-guided car tour with the help of a CD that was to take 2 1/2 hours, but we took almost 4 hours and enjoyed every minute.

Put Gettysburg on your bucket list...another inspiring location....not for little ones, but for children over 9 or 10 years old.

We Love Washington, D.C.

The last 9 days have been a treasure to both Steve and I.
Now we are ready to head out to the Amish country and Gettysburg.

Before we leave, we spent time at the Capitol and Arlington. What inspiring places for both of us. We are already planning a return visit in the near future to finish all the museums, revisit the Archives, and take time to walk around some of the neighborhoods.

There is a tremendous bakery right out of the Archives stop on the Metro that is calling us to return! All Americans should have the opportunity to visit such a majestic center of government. I want to bring each of my grandchildren one by one to share the splendor and history of our great nation. That's my goal!
